Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at hawkeyeroofsurveys@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

After market research, most other roof surveyors are not qualified roofers. In contrast, Hawkeye has over 15 years’ experience in the roofing industry. While it is possible to use a drone to identify broken tiles, our experience enables us to detect issues that could require a minor repair rather than a full strip and re-roof.

Your roof is the most significant protection against the elements and can also be the most costly part of a house to replace and repair. A roof inspection provides peace of mind regarding one of the most important parts of your house. A regular roof survey will prevent small issues becoming big issues and extend the life of your roof.

Yes, just because its new doesn’t mean it won’t have any problems.

New builds usually come with only a 2 year warranty. So better to be safe than sorry.

We see a lot of properties that just get a standard survey by a snagger or surveyor. Sometimes, the surveyor doesn’t even get up on the roof, so they’re just looking at the roof from the ground. They can miss some big problems!

A Hawkeye roof survey means we check everything from all angles; like crawling between the rafters, looking over the insulation, and poking around the eaves. You just can’t do that with a standard house survey.

Our surveys are super detailed and give you a full report to help you make informed decisions about the next steps needed to ensure that your roof is in good order. The report shows you what’s good and what’s not with the roof, and it gives you all the information you need to organise any necessary repairs. If you need repairs, we may suggest maintenance or in some cases, even a whole new roof. We will also include an estimate of the costs of repair; this can be a great way to negotiate if your’e looking to make an offer on a house or building.

Most new-build houses have false chimneys. They are primarily there for aesthetics and planning. Installed by a crane and bolted to the timber frame of the roof they create openings that, with the right wind and rain conditions, can allow water to enter the roof space. This inspection involves a drone inspection of the chimney, followed by an inspection inside your loft space to inspect the underside of the chimney.

No, we inspect roofs of any age and size.
